Angelina Pavlyuk is our youngest volunteer. However, it does not stop her from taking responsibility for the “Video guide. Konotop” project and to be its administrator. She has a talent to process a large amount of information, which helps us in preparing materials for our videos.

“For me, the Video Guide project is an opportunity to learn interesting, previously unknown historical facts of my native city, and I also like to work with archival documents – I’m interested in the history of my motherland and of the world. In addition, the project gives us an opportunity to get acquainted with the work principles of journalists and bloggers, and the most important thing is that fact that we put them into practice … Finally, this is communication, new acquaintances, team work with interesting, creative people … It is cool to be a volunteer! “- says Angelina.

She studies in the senior year, and she has to choose her future profession. We hope that participation in the “Video Guide” project will help her to choore her future career.

“This is the “video guide project. Konotop ” and I am one of its presenters, Victoria. For me the project is a little more than just a retelling of boring information. Thanks to “Video Guide” I learned to speak, remember much information, as well as a lot of interesting facts, the way to communicate and get along with people. Actually, it’s very interesting. I do not have any regrets about the fact that I started doing this … ”

Yevgenia Sulimova takes part in several projects: “School of video guides” and “Ball for old gentlemen and ladies”.

Being a responsible person, Zhenya is ready to spend the necessary time to do good deeds and believes that volunteering is a noble thing. In addition, she has the opportunity toachieve her full potential, taking part in projects which relate to her hobbies. This is very important, because doing what you like means doing good things for others!

It is a unique challenge for Zhenya to participate in the “Ball” project – you need to dance and to teach to dance as well as to organize a large group of people (of course, she didn’t organize only by herself, it’s very hard) … This is a good experience! The result of the project team we will see very soon!

It is cool to be a volunteer!

Maxim Gradin is  our volunteer.

“… Once I was very helped, and now it’s my turn to do good deeds for people.” Maxim is a student of a polytechnic college, at the beginning he came to the “Video Guide” project , but then he also took an active part in other projects.

In the “Ball for old gentlemen and ladies” project he was one of the volunteers in the administration of the hall. He helped on time and at high level, we knew for sure that Maxim would not fail.

He also helped the theatrical team of our Hesed, when it was necessary to replace the actor, although he played a small but necessary role in Yuri Golubkov’s production of “Chuppah in Style” (Konotop, A Jewish Place 20 Years Later).

We are proud of the fact that Maxim appeared in our team, he proved once again that it is cool to be a volunteer!

I am a female counselor psychologist. I work using the method of positive psychotherapy.

My credo is the following: “Problems are a part of our life. But problems are only one part of life! “. Difficult situations happen with us for a reason, it is a life lesson, after which you become smarter, stronger and feel yourself a free person.

My mission is to help women feel happy, find peace in the soul and harmony in relationships, become more self-confident.

I love my job and I like being a volunteer. Once in a difficult situation psychology changed my life. And now I want to help those who need it. I know that there is a way out and life is beautiful from the very beginning. Everyone has a huge internal resource, and people often do not even know about it. …

A little more about myself – I love my children and husband as well as my fluffy cat; I adore reading books; I am inspired by walks and spring. I like to spend time with funny, good people …

It is cool to be a volunteer!

Oxana came to us as an experienced volunteer in social activities. She is a lawyer and activist who chose Lina Kostenko’s words as her life credo: “If I had my way, I would write everywhere in italics: there is much grief in the world, people, be mutually beautiful!”

She started to volunteer while studying at the Konotop Medical College and taking care of the babies left in the maternity ward. In addition, almost all her activities are related to the interests of people with disabilities, assistance of palliative patients, work with children …

But this is social activity. “It’s just incredible”, someone will think about her, but Oksana spend time with her family, too!

“Volunteering for me is when you not only worry for people who are in difficult life situations, but also are ready to help them for free.”

In our community Oksana has proved herself as a wonderful manager, a proactive and responsible team member. She is reliable and we are sure that everything will be done on time and at high level…

So we want to say: “Be like Oksana!”

Elena Kalashnikova is a nice, cheerful, positive and energetic person. “I like to help others. In such a way, I add meaning to my life and engage in self-realization by sharing my knowledge and skills with others…” – she says.
Elena is very sociable and, practically, irreplaceable. Thanks to her past experience, she gets along with people of all ages, that is why both children and adults love her.
“If someone is in trouble, we must rescue him or her. Of course, you cannot expect that people will be grateful to you, sometimes, on the contrary, they become angry but I do not care about that. I just do what I can do, and continue helping others despite some disappointment because there are more good hearted people than bad ones…
I am fond of cooking, drawing and handicraft… Most of all, I love cooking pilaf in the pan over an open fire. This is my signature dish, and I have won the second prize for it during summer camp competitions among educators and teachers”.
Besides, Elena is a wonderful wife and mother!

“…I am so happy when I hear a sincere and heartfelt ‘THANK YOU’…” – Victoria Zimovets says. She runs the project called Culinary Traditions Connecting Generations.
Since childhood, Victoria has loved cooking, and always helped her mother in the kitchen.
The Master Chief TV Series have determined her choice.
Now Victoria is a certified chef.
“I know how to cook tasty food, how to decorate dishes and set the table, I know a lot of wonderful recipes!
But always there are some secrets which you learn only from your experience. Practice makes the master.
Thanks to this project, I receive valuable recommendations from those who know and keep the rich traditions of the unique Jewish cuisine…
Besides, I am fond of reading, drawing, and knitting…”
What knowledge and skills would you like to share with others?

Yuri Tarasov takes an active part in all Jewish Renaissance Programs of Konotop.
He started organizing Jewish holidays even before the Jewish Community Center was open, namely, in 1993 when the Jews of Konotop founded the Konotop Jewish Community LEBN (which means “life” in Yiddish). Later, the Konotop Jewish Community Center “Hesed Ester” was open, and Yuri has always participated in all Jewish Community events since then.
Seven years he had lived in Jerusalem, then he returned to the Ukraine, and has lived in Konotop for the past seven years. He works as a Psychiatrist and takes care of his elderly mother.
Yuri is a member of the board of the Konotop Jewish Community LEBN. He is an active member of the Family Club. He takes an active part in all activities carried out at the Sunday School funded by the L. A. Pincus Fund for Jewish Education in the Diaspora. And, of course, he always meets the Sabbath Queen with the Jewish Community members.
People with interest listen to him when he expresses his point of view on Torah chapters and on other Jewish sacred texts.
Every year, the Global Day of Jewish Learning unites people around the world, and Yuri helps us organize the event in our Community. He also helps our volunteers organize the Purim Spiel and other Jewish holidays.
Every spring, along with other volunteers, he plants trees and flowers in the Jewish Community garden.
“We have to stick together”, – he says.
As a volunteer doctor within the framework of the project called Doctors without Borders, Yuri delivers lectures. Both Hesed clients and the activists of the Konotop Jewish Community Center “Hesed Ester” attend his lectures because he addresses common health problems and gives valuable recommendations on a healthy lifestyle.

It is important to visualize the projects we run because the impressions we make will determine the future of our projects. What do we need to succeed? A lot of things, including a logo, a website design, a cookbook layout, etc. And we would like to thank the professional designer Julia Dubina who donates her time and energy to help us, although she is always very busy.
Her contribution is very valuable for us because together we are stronger!
Besides, Julia is good company: She tells interesting stories when you are bored and she is all ears when you have something to tell. She knows how to cheer you up when you are in a bad mood and to make your day! We really appreciate it!
